Lovely Weekend, Stormy Again Next Tuesday...

After being in the 80s yesterday, we're 10-15 degrees cooler today.  However, with lots of sunshine and lower humidity, it felt great.  Sunday will have a chilly start, but the afternoon temps will be warmer.

Yesterday's cold front has stalled just off the mouth of the river with some showers barely off the Louisiana coast.

The center of the high will mean lighter winds and that coupled with clear skies will make for a chilly start on Sunday.  But look at what's coming to our west.  Houston is in the upper 70s and we'll be near that tomorrow.

All of the rain today is down over the Gulf, up over the Great Lakes and along the West coast.  David showed the new drough monitor last night and it still indicates most of our state needs rain.

The top graphic is last weel's drought monitor with the middle being this week. Note there has been some slight improvement over north & central  Louisiana,  I've circled some smoke plumes on this afternoon's satellite pic.    We could use more rain and that should come next week.

The storm system bringing rain to California is predicted to head towards south Texas on Monday.  SPC already has issued a level 3 severe risk (enhanced)  that will likely be extended across us for Tuesday.

Astronomical Spring arrives on Monday and it will feel like it until our next front cools us down for Wednesday.  Stay tuned!
