Pattern Change Coming For Next Week...

Our current warm spell will last through the weekend before an upper trough along the West coast marches eastward bringing us a cold front and a chance for rain.   This is much needed rainfall as we start to get into the Spring growing season.  Most of Louisiana is under some form of drought.

All of the eastern states, except New England, have warmed up under the upper ridge.  Look how the western trough is predicted to move eastward into next week.

The top chart is from this morning with the one below valid for Sunday morning.  Notice how the California low lifts way up into Michigan with the Seattle low diving back over the SW.  The next view is valid for Tuesday with the bottom pic valid for Friday.   The best rain chances should come Tuesday & Wednesday of next week.  Also, there is no deep dip over the East keeping the coldest air far to our north.

So this will be a really warm weekend that should gets things sprouting.

We're not done with the cold air, but I think we might be done with any freezes on the South Shore.  I plan to begin working on my garden this weekend.   Stay tuned!
