More Numerous Showers, Even Some Thunder...

Yesterday it appeared rain chances would stay very low as we have an upper ridge over the SE.  However, as a sign of our coming Summer season, daytime heating has perked up way more numerous showers than the models expected.  During the past hour, some lightning & thunder has erupted to our SE.

The bottom satellite view shows how high the T-Storms developed as they casted shadows (arrows) to their east.  As we head towards Summer, these daytime heating storms will become commonplace.

The main upper energy is over the northern Plains with a trailing cold front down into Texas.  As the upper trough pushes to the east, the cold front will stagger through us during the day on Tuesday.  The main results will be slightly cooler temps and much drier air for Wednesday and Thursday.

As you can see, the nice, good feel air will not last into jazz Fest weekend as the heat & humidity will return bigtime.

In the short term, Monday will continue very warm & humid with a couple of daytime heating storms.  Note the high dew points (60+) still extend back to Dallas.

As the front approaches tomorrow, winds should lessen slightly before turning northerly on Tuesday.  We still have at least one more cold front before you know what is here!  Stay tuned!
