She may briefly reach the extreme southern Gulf before moving across the Yucatan. No strengthening is possible until the remains reach the SE Gulf east of the Yucatan late this week.
Most hurricane models take whatever is left towards south Florida with the Euro being way more aggressive at forming Tropical Storm Alex. Underneath the spaghetti plots are the Euro and the GFS models. The top two are the Euro that has a close circulation west of Ft. Myers becoming much stronger once over the Gulf stream east of the Carolinas. The GFS doesn't agree and really never forms much of anything. Bottom line, whatever might form will NOT impact the northern Gulf states. Our weather will be basic summer time for the rest of this week.
There is a powerful storm moving over the northern plains with numerous reports of severe weather.
Temperatures are seasonally warm across the eastern states with only the west rather cool.
We have seen a couple of showers bubble up during daytime heating, but coverage has been only 20 %.
