Pacific's First Hurricane Could Reform Around South Florida...

Tropical Storm Agatha in the Eastern Pacific has quickly strengthened into a Hurricane.  She's barely moving but is expected to slowly drift towards the Mexican coast.  She might have a chance at becoming a Cat. 3 before landfall?

In the color view, you can see the cluster of storms that have formed around the center (arrow).   As the remains of Agatha move across Mexico this week, several models (CMC, Euro) bring the energy across the Yucatan into the SE Gulf.  With a weak upper ridge over us, we won't have to worry about a northward turn.

The bottom 2 graphics are the Euro valid for next Saturday & the following Wednesday.  Note how it doesn't develop the system until it gets east of Florida and heads towards the Carolina Coast.  It's name would be Alex IF that proves reality.  Thankfully, he won't be our worry.

It's a fairly typical late May afternoon across the eastern 2/3 of the nation.  There isn't much rain with warm, but not too hot, temperatures.

The real high dew points are confined to South Texas & Florida.  However, dew points 60+ soar all the up into Minnesota.  Only the western states are chilly.

An upper low over Idaho has a large cloud swirl around it with some snow showers at the higher elevations.   Even Phoenix is only in the 80s.

With no fronts coming this week (probably for the next 12-16 weeks!), daytime heating or the land/sea breeze will be the only trigger to produce any rain.

As highs get back up to around 90, I watered my potted plants today.   All in all, it's not bad for Memorial Day weekend.  Enjoy & remember our troops.  Semper Fi!  Stay tuned!
