Heat Wave Finally Broken With Clouds & Showers...

You have to go back into May to find a day when we didn't break 90+.  The area of disturbed weather that was over the Florida panhandle yesterday shifted over us today bring us clouds, some rain and cooling relief as highs were mainly in the 80s.

Despite the cooler temperatures, we are still on pace for the hottest June.  Note, where it was sunny with no rain, temps are still 90+.

Since we are expecting more daily storms for the next 5 days, we may not end up as the hottest June, but it will be close.  The Tropics have some activity, but the only name storm is in the eastern Pacific.

All models keep whatever might form way south heading towards central America.    NHC is still giving the area over the northern Gulf a slight chance for development, but not until it nears Texas.

We do have a weak frontal boundary that will sag near us enhancing our shower chances this week.

Temps drop into the 70s & 80s behind the front, but the real story is the much drier air.  Look at the lower dewpoints.

Our dew point reach 80 earlier this afternoon, which is as bad as it gets when temps are near 90.  Note the 55 dew point at Oklahoma City.  Now that is really good feeling air like I had in Boston last weekend.

We don't expect the cold front to sweep through us, but it will be close enough to make us less hot due to clouds & higher rain chances.  Rain totals today were light and we could use some good soakers over the next few days.  Stay tuned!
