If you haven't seen the promo with Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee-Sheng, let me remind you the 2022 International Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo begins 2 weeks from tomorrow. Cynthia is this year's first female President, and she invites all women fishermen to come join us for three days of fishing, food & fun. You can register on the island the week of the rodeo and that gives you the chance to win the "bay boat/trailer/motor" that is part of the registration package.
All we need is for the Tropics to stay quiet and this year's rodeo will be a great success. Fishing around Grand Isle has been on fire rebounding after last year's hurricane Ida.
The Eastern Pacific remains active with weakening Hurricane Darby followed by another area that shows potential. The Atlantic is quiet with Saharan dust (courtesy Bay9 News Tampa) & upper level lows suppressing any development. None of the models have anything cooking for the next 7-10 days.
NHC dropped mentioning the area over the northern Gulf, but there is a well defined swirl around an upper low just north of the Yucatan.
The Southeast remains under a tropical airmass while the heat dome continues to our north & west. Dallas is now at day 11 of 100+ degrees.
Some spotty storms did pop again today providing cloud cover & cooling relief. Don't see a whole lot of change coming as we'll stay on the outer extent of the upper heat dome with disturbances rotating around it.
