Hope Cantore Is Right?

I've mentioned in previous posts how the eastern Pacific has been very active with 8 named storms so far.  On The Weather Channel this morning, Jim Cantore mentioned 7 of those storms  reached hurricane status and that has only happened in 1954,'71 & '90.  A look back at those seasons showed almost all storms in the Atlantic turned to the north BEFORE hitting the United States.  Could 2022 be like those years?  We can only hope.

For some reason, I cannot post any photos except the above two.  It shows an upper low over the SE Gulf with a tropical wave moving to the west.   The bottom color view indicates no organization with just clusters of storms from the Gulf into the Caribbean.   Models have no development.  Regardless, we're likely to see above normal clouds & showers for the next 2-3 days.  I'll try to post later.  Stay tuned!

What weather anomaly or condition- if you will- caused the storms in the Atlantic to turn northward?

The strength of the Atlantic Ridge/Bermuda High determines whether storms continue to move more westward before turning north, or turn north earlier moving east of Florida. But first you have to have a storm to steer.
