Now Lisa & Martin, But No Cold Air...

We have reached the final month in the 2022 hurricane season and the number of named storms keeps growing.  We all know this has been a way less active season, but the record books won't show it.  In fact, if we get another 2 or 3 named storms, it might end up being above average/normal with the 30 year average being 14 named storms.  These late season storms are not a threat to the northern Gulf as water temps have cooled and westerly upper winds increase.

What we start looking for in November is when will the real cold air arrive?  It's building up over Canada where below zero temps are common.  However, it will take a dip in the jet stream over the eastern states for the cold air to come our way.  That is not happening this week.

these temperatures were from 5 pm CDT and we still had 70+ all the way to North
Dakota.  The western trough will bring winter like temps to much of the Rockies while the ridge over the eastern states keeps us summer-like.

A weak upper disturbance coming across Texas is triggering some showers, but this system will weaken as it moves across us.  Another front will approach us late Saturday bringing some showers, but that front is likely to stall out to our west.

There are signs a more robust front will arrive sometime midweek of NEXT week.  Until then, enjoy the late Fall temps before the real chill comes, and it is coming before Thanksgiving.  Stay tuned!
