Record Heat Here, Nicole Threatens Florida, Will Flip Pattern...

Ever since they built the new MSY around the weather sensors, I have observed readings there higher than most areas around it.   Even still, today was way too hot with MSY reaching 90 degrees.  I don't have access to all the weather data, but I believe this is the latest 90 degree day in recorded history,  In fact, it was so hot, several showers & T-Storms developed.

The reason for our heat can be traced to the upper air pattern across the nation.  There is a deep trough along the West coast bringing them cold air, rain & snow at the higher elevations.  Over the eastern states, there is an upper ridge bringing record warmth to many states.

But that will change later this week as the trough shifts eastward and a late season tropical system rumbles up the East coast.

As often happens in meteorology, when the weather is way too warm, it usually goes to the opposite of way too cold.

The next two days here will continue very warm before we start to see a downturn in temps. as Nicole heads up the east coast.

Drier air to our north will start creeping southward as the circulation of Nicole starts to draw it down to the Gulf.  There has been no major changes in thinking to Nicole's future.

Satellite views continue to show no T-Storms around the well defined center, but that should change as she heads over warmer water to the west.

The center line track has been shifted slightly to the north and east keeping Tampa on the weaker side of Nicole.   For the life of me I don't understand why Ch. 8 doesn't use the center line track.  Every other channel in the city does and even the network newscasts tonight had the center line track.  It's the only way you can follow which way NHC is trending their thinking.  Finally...

The first sub-zero cold is approaching Montana.  Some of that chill will arrive here making for a chilly weekend.

For many of you, that is welcomed news.  Many spots on the North Shore could approach freezing Sunday & Monday mornings?   From the 90s to near freezing. Yikes!   Stay tuned!   Let's try it again, Saints 31, Ravens 27.  Who dat!
