Redfish Were Rumbling, Along With Tropics

I hadn't been fishing since the last week in May, so it was exciting to get back on the water even if it was again way too hot.  Captain Johnny Lewis & Hylton Petit were again superb fisherman and we had no trouble catching some really nice redfish.  We only kept one apiece and let three go, but had we kept fishing for redfish, we easily could have caught our limits.  All in all, 42 keeper trout, 6 redfish, several black drum and many throwbacks made for a long, but exciting day.

While the redfish were plentiful, so are tropical disturbances.  Fortunately, all the activity is far out to seas except for Lee

Lee has weakened, but remains a powerful storm with a well defined eyewall.  As he has weakened, his wind field has expanded outward and his path will bring some of those tropical storm force winds to the East coast.

Model guidance keeps the centerline track well east of Boston with the main impacts heading towards Maine & Newfoundland.  It will be a breezy Saturday & Sunday for the New England states

Back to our weather, and I see no signs of a REAL cold front coming for another 7-10 days.  However, a weak frontal boundary will get stalled over us as the upper wind flow is west to east.

Some welcomed rains are falling along that boundary and it's reflected in the temperatures.

Unfortunately, the clouds and rains didn't arrive soon enough to keep us under 90.  Hopefully we'll see several days of scattered showers as we remain very dry.

I'm not sure we'll be able to top 90+ as the FOX 8 extended shows.  Why?  IF we can get showers & weak upper disturbances to flow along the front, the clouds & rainfall should help keep us in the 80s.  Whatever, it sure beats being 100+!  Stay tuned!
