Lessons From Beryl, Seeking Relief From Heat, 2 Weeks to G.I. Tarpon Rodeo

In full disclosure, I am a paid spokesman for Lightning Services, one of the biggest installers of Generac generators.  In today's paper was a story indicating thousands in Metro Houston were still without power amid the oppressive, often deadly heat of Summer.  Hurricane Beryl came ashore LAST WEEKEND as "justa Category one " Hurricane.  Yet for many who depend on the electric company, they're suffering during the hottest time of the year.  Thankfully, I earned enough during my working years to afford a whole house generator.

What Hurricane Beryl should have taught everyone here is simple.  Even though she was not "an evacuation type" storm, a Cat. 1 still can bring winds strong enough to bring down trees, limbs or poles cutting off power for many days.   Seniors especially are vulnerable to excessive heat.  If you are blessed to afford a full house generator, don't wait until the next storm hits here.  Make that investment in your home that could save your life.  4 years ago I chose Lightning Services and they haven't failed me once.

During these very hot days of July & August, we look for various ways to cool down and feel better.  Brenda has one of her paintings that does that for me.  Picture yourself sitting outside overlooking the deep blue waters of the sea with a gentle breeze.  She calls this "Santorini". You can see more of Brenda's work on Instagram@breckbrenda or contact her at brendabreck@gmail.com. I call Santorini refreshing!  However, it's also summer in Greece with highs around 100 so don't visit until it gets cooler!

Weather wise, nothing changes at this time of the year.  There is a blow up of storms to our west and I believe that is caused by a subtle spilt in the upper flow that enhances surface lift.

Around us we have out typical daytime heating storms. Where it's not raining, it's sizzling hot.

During the summer, it's all about weak boundaries since fronts struggle to reach us.

There is a flair up of clouds north of the Dominican Republic, but NHC isn't talking about it.  translation, it'll be gone by tomorrow.

What I still don't understand is why no one, except Weather Bell Analytics' Joe Bastardi is talking about the lack of  tropical activity worldwide during this cycle of global warming.  Look at the views from space beginning over the Atlantic.

When nothing is going on over the hottest basin (West Pacific) in the world, something is going on.  Why doesn't some researcher/scientist try to explain it?  Does it go against an agenda?  Perhaps.

Here's the 7 day that does indicate a weak front might get close enough NEXT weekend to increase our rain chances making us less hot.  Don't bet the house on it!

Finally, two weeks from today, I will be down on Grand Isle with this President Kristine Russell to conclude the 2024 Tarpon Rodeo.  The last thing we will draw from those that register is the winner of $10,000!  It could be you!  Go to tarponrodeo.org to register.  Stay tuned!
