Super Sunday Weather, Cold Coming Back In Waves

No matter which team you want to win, the real winner this weekend is the City of New Orleans.  With thousands here from K.C. & Philly  (where the temperatures are barely above freezing) and millions watching the mega coverage on FOX, our 80-degree warmth has got to get more people coming here in the coming weeks to get away from the cold.  I know many of you have wondered if we're done with Winter and the short answer is NO!  We currently have the upper trough over the western states and no signs of a deep East Coast trough developing during the next 10-14 days.  However, we will see colder air (not frigid) returning in waves/surges for the rest of this month.  There still is plenty of below-zero weather up north.

Some cold does sneak down from Canada, but the main upper flow is west to east so fronts tend to stall out before they reach us.  Today is day 15 above normal/average since our big freeze after the snowstorm on Jan. 21st.  The cold air is not far from us, and we should see some cooler temperatures later this week.

It's heavy-coat weather behind the front, but it will take a few days to reach us.  Several showers have developed south of Lake P. during daytime heating.

Most of the heavier rains this week will be to our north as a weak upper disturbance finally pushes the boundary through us.

So most of the nation is very like February is supposed to feel...COLD.  The exceptions are along the Gulf coasts.

You can see the cooldowns coming.  The first arrives Wednesday night with a colder surge coming for next weekend.  Finally, I must give you my Super Bowl prediction.  I don't care for either team!  Philly has some Louisiana connections, but I'm thinking let's get this three-peat over with.  That way every team will be aiming for the Chiefs next year.  Final Score, Chief 44, Eagles 38 in a wild one.  It easily could be the Eagles with the 44?  Should be an exciting game with the Super Dome & NOLA as the real winners!  Stay tuned!
