Storm Threat Never There, Quiet Stretch This Week

Several posts back, I mentioned the dangers of always "crying wolf".  If "the wolf" never comes, the viewers tend to ignore the repeated "Alerts, Impacts, Warnings". Sooner or later, the "wolf" does arrive, but I wonder how many will say, "Yeah, just another scare tactic to frighten us."  That's why I trust the experts at SPC to guide me.  I pointed out how they kept yesterday's severe risk at level one and told you why. (Positive vs negative tilted upper trough).  Fact is, we barely had enough rain to wet the ground with most locations getting  .10-.20".

The heavier rains stayed across north LA/MS and are now over GA/SC & northern Florida.  The main East coast trough has flattened back to a weak circulation near SHV.

The clouds and showers over the southern states have them cooler than cities to the north in sunshine. As the upper ridge over the Rockies shifts to the east, we should see lots of sunshine and warmer temperatures for most of this week.  The next upper trough is west of California, but already some folks are hyping the potential severe threat here for late Friday into Saturday.  C'mon, that's 5-6 days away.

I say, enjoy the next 3-5 days and we'll worry about next weekend when it's closer.  We're not done getting cold fronts, but I don't see anything that would bring us a frost/freeze threat during the next 7-10 days.  My flowers are starting to bloom and many of the damaged in-ground plants are sending out new shoots.  I love Spring!  Stay tuned!
