The Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo is a little more than a month away and today I journeyed down to the Island with long-time friend Dr. Rob Muller to shoot some promos under the guidance of FOX 8 Director of Marketing Blaine Strawn. This year's Rodeo President is Jason Bergeron, who is also President of Terrebonne Parish. Jason was fantastic in plugging rodeo events, and I invite you all to watch for these vignettes on FOX 8 during the next several weeks.
We did most of our filming at the Hurricane Hole Marina, truly one of the brighter spots on Grand Isle. The grand prize this year is $ 10,000, and all you have to do is register at tarponrodeo.org. Heck, you don't even have to fish to win! Checking the Tropics, the Atlantic & Caribbean remain quiet, but the EPAC is bracing for Erick.
Hurricane Erick continues to strengthen off the Mexican coast, and NHC expects him to become a Cat. 3 before landfall.
It appears landfall will be east of Acapulco. Looking at our weather, we have one more day of high rain chances before the weekend dries out.
You can see from Houston westward it's dry. As the upper trough over the Great Lakes lifts out and the upper high shifts to the east, our rain coverage will decrease for Friday & Saturday.
Today's showers have been more numerous to our north and east.
