We all know (if you've lived here for a while) that the heart of the Hurricane season is August 15th through October 10th. I grabbed this graphic off The Weather Channel that surprised me with how many Hurricanes have happened during the last 10 years during July. Notice, only 3 were in the Gulf.
What's surprising is that many of the tracks started way out in the Atlantic. That's unlikely this year since the Saharan Dust is in command.
NHC is still highlighting an area for possible development along the SE coast.
I just don't see anything happening since an upper low east of Florida makes for a hostile environment. IF something did form, we're on the dry side. There is some drier air/lower dew points that could filter in during the day tomorrow.
On the surface map, it looks like a cold front, but look at the temps & dew points. I doubt most of us will notice any difference except for rain chances that should be below normal (20-30%) thru Sunday.
We saw some heavy storms around today and they brought welcomed relief after most us us topped 90.
The 7 day is basic summertime, so use common sense if you're gonna be outside this weekend. 3 weeks from tomorrow starts the 97th International Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo.
The grand prize is $10,000, and all you have to do is register to have a chance. Go to tarponrodeo.org. Tomorrow night is Jefferson Parish's Uncle Sam Jam.
I will be there as I am honored to introduce music legend (American Pie) Don McLean at 6 PM. Hopefully, any showers are long gone, just like today. We'll see you there. Stay tuned!
