We all heard the early predictions for an above-normal storm season back in April. Those numbers were scaled back slightly by August, and if you go strictly by the number of named storms, we're ahead of last year. Hannah Gard showed this graphic on her new FOX 8 program.
We actually are ahead of last year's pace, but the location of these storms have had little impact on land. As you can see, last September went nuts with 6 named storms & 4 more in October. Just don't see that happening this year, as models are seeing very little for the next 10-14 days. Look at the dust still pouring off of Africa.
Plus, there is very little activity coming across of Africa. Even our part of the World is quiet with the exception of Tropical Storm Fernand way out in the Atlantic.
We have two waves over the Caribbean and a leftover boundary across the Gulf. It's quite a difference from August 29th of 2005 (Katrina) & 2021 (Ida). It appears we will stay quiet well into the beginning of September. I hope that quietness doesn't discourage you from subscribing to my podcast.
For only $2/month you can watch me expand upon my WVUE Facebook post. Or watch my interview with David Bernard coming this Wednesday. Remember David during Ida?

You are terrific, Bob! I will try to tune in to your podcast, though I subscribed the first day that it was available I still haven't gotten to watch it yet. But even so, how can I complain for $2 a month for my favorite weather caster
Just so you are aware, the shows are archived on the main website and you can go back and watch them all.
